Hive of the Solitary Ant: Waking Up

Feel like I'm waking up again, finally.

Hasn't been depression. Just recovering from surgery, then helping the wife recover from hers, and taking care of all the stuff you have to take care of with a family.

The Solitary Ant

Back in the day, I used to watch Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. OK, I didn't watch the show for the movies, but rather for Elvira's massive sweater-meats, which were pretty much the biggest things I'd ever seen. This was back before fakes were around, so she was impressive.

However, she showed a movie that changed things for me forever. The movie "THEM!", which was just amazing. It had everything (back then), and the thought of nuclear weapons creating things that like fired my imagination. Unfortunately, the days of atomic monsters is gone, which is a damn shame.

Then, later, I owned an Amiga 500, and bought a game called "It Came From the Desert", which once again featured my favorite thing: Giant Ants.

Later, I wrote a gaming supplement for d20 Modern where the characters face a hive of giant ants.

But, why "solitary" in my name? Well, unless I want to live in a hive the size of Rhode Island, which would stir up the humans (and they have some bad-ass stuff), I need to be solitary.

In my mind, I'm the 50 Foot Ant. Wishing I was part of my society, but circumstances preventing me.

So I dwell within the empty hive.

Alone.
